About Us
Hensley Lamkin Rachel, Inc. (HLR) is an AIA member firm founded in 1991 to serve as the exclusive architectural firm of a prominent national student housing developer. Since then, principals David Hensley, Robert Lamkin, and Bruce Rachel have worked with top development firms across the country to enhance communities through appropriate design for every life stage.
Diverse experience and technical knowledge allow HLR to design projects across market segments. We deliver quality construction while maintaining solid client relationships who rely on us for creative solutions that fit within existing structures or neighborhoods.
HLR’S principals are licensed in multiple states and have designed student housing, multifamily, senior housing and commercial projects throughout the United States.
Student Housing
HLR has a unique approach to housing design, focusing on student living spaces. HLR is known as a design leader in student apartments and residence halls for private and university clients. Our firm stands out as one of the nation’s leading multifamily design and construction services providers, having been named Top 100 Architects three times by Multi-Housing News. Senior Housing
At HLR, we commit to naturally designing functional housing for every life stage, including the senior population. Besides being experts in fair housing design, accessibility, and usability, we are also sensitive to accommodating all resident needs and those of their family members and caregivers who support them.
